Tour Overview
Kenya's Iconic Savanna in Five Days
For those with limited time, this is the circuit that delivers maximum diversity and iconic scenery , Kilimanjaro's snowy peak, African savanna classics, and the Mara's legendary raptor concentration all within one week.
Amboseli combines Kenya-Tanzania near-endemics (Ashy Starling, Rosy-patched Bushshrike) with common savanna species in landscape unmatched for scenic drama , Kilimanjaro's snowy peak frames every observation. Seasonal swamps concentrate waterbirds; open plains harbor grassland specialists. The clarity of light and predictable wildlife create ideal conditions for photography and observation.
The Mara represents Africa's greatest raptor destination. Martial Eagles, Bateleurs, Tawny Eagles, and Secretary Birds are daily sightings. The open grasslands allow observation of raptors wheeling above thermals, hunting behavior unfolding across vast distances, and inter-species interactions that closed habitats would never reveal. This is where you truly understand African raptor ecology.
This tour is ideal for birders seeking an introduction to Kenya's savanna avifauna or combining birding with classic wildlife safari experiences. Led by an expert field ornithologist, each day combines early-morning and late-afternoon drives with midday rest periods to maximize sightings across both key habitats.
